ViGo is proud to support the latest Green Gas Taskforce report, “Driving Green Gas: The Role of Biomethane in Decarbonising and Reducing Costs in HGVs.”
Published October 2025, the report makes a compelling case for biomethane as a cornerstone of the UK’s journey to Net Zero—especially for the heavy goods vehicle (HGV) sector.
Key findings show that biomethane-powered trucks can deliver up to 83% CO₂ savings compared to diesel, with the potential for negative emissions when using certain waste feedstocks. With over 3,200 biomethane HGVs already on UK roads and a rapidly expanding refuelling network, biomethane is a proven, scalable, and cost-effective solution for long-haul transport.
The report calls for targeted policy support, including extending the biomethane fuel duty discount and recognising biomethane’s carbon-neutral status in future regulations. These recommendations align with ViGo’s mission: to deliver reliable, sustainable, and circular energy solutions for the UK’s transport sector.
ViGo is at the forefront of this transition, supplying high-quality biomethane from organic waste and supporting operators with infrastructure, expertise, and long-term partnerships. We believe that by working together, we can accelerate decarbonisation, support UK energy security, and help our customers achieve their sustainability goals.
