ViGo’s growth in Belgium and the Netherlands is being shaped by leaders with deep operational roots, and few embody that more clearly than Philippe Desrumaux, Managing Director of Benelux.
Philippe’s career began on the workshop floor as a mechanic converting vehicles to gas, but quickly evolved into a front-row role in Europe’s low-carbon transport transition. After working in the automotive sector since 1994, he went on to buy Drive Systems in 2007 and help transform it from a mechanical workshop into an LNG fuel supplier. As LNG began to gain momentum in Europe, Philippe spearheaded the development of Belgium’s LNG station network. Along the way, he witnessed and helped enable the rise of bioLNG as a practical pathway for decarbonising heavy goods transport.
Following ViGo’s acquisition of Drive Systems late last year, Philippe now leads ViGo’s Benelux operations, bringing decades of experience in biomethane and station development. His focus is clear: operational reliability and network access to help customers make the shift away from conventional fuels without adding complexity to day-to-day operations.
Q: What core value did you keep while integrating with ViGo?
Philippe: “The mindset that trust is earned operationally. It’s not just about offering a sustainable fuel, it’s about making it easy to use.”
For fleets, decarbonisation decisions don’t only hinge on ambition, they hinge on whether a solution works consistently in real operating conditions. Philippe’s approach reflects that reality: delivering customer confidence through dependable access, smooth adoption, and operational performance.
Q: How has this acquisition benefited the wider market?
Philippe: “ViGo has a clear vision to take the industry forward with quality fuel and access for the masses. Drive Systems had 5 stations, but together with ViGo our customer base has access to nearly 60 stations across Europe. ViGo is changing the game for transport and making the switch to biomethane even easier.”
Network matters, especially in heavy transport where route planning and refuelling certainty are critical. By combining Drive Systems’ local foundations with ViGo’s broader footprint, the acquisition strengthens cross-border accessibility and helps make bioLNG adoption more straightforward for fleets operating in and beyond Belgium and the Netherlands.
Q: What are customers asking for most in 2026?
Philippe: “Customers want sustainability, but they need practicality and competitive pricing. BioLNG achieves the same result, same practicality, and better pricing than diesel. And with an established network, there’s no reason not to switch to LNG.”
The market conversation has matured. Customers increasingly expect solutions that deliver on sustainability goals without sacrificing operational performance or commercial viability. BioLNG, supported by a growing network, is helping more fleets move to a practical solution now, without waiting for a long-term aspiration.
As ViGo continues strengthening its presence in Belgium and the wider Benelux region, Philippe’s leadership plays a key role in expanding access to bioLNG and supporting fleets with reliable infrastructure, practical implementation, and a customer-first approach.
